Abstract:
A photodetector device 1 is equipped with an avalanche photodiode array substrate 10 comprising a compound semiconductor. A circuit board 50 is provided with a clock driver 35 and a plurality of time measuring circuits 40. The time measuring circuits 40 are each provided with a delay line unit and acquire, from the operation results of a delay line 47, time information indicating the timing at which a pulse signal from a corresponding avalanche photodiode 20 is input. The delay line unit initiates operation of the delay line 47 in response to the pulse signal being input to the time measuring circuit 40, stops the operation of the delay line 47 in response to a clock signal from the clock driver 35 being input to the time measuring circuit 40, and detects from the operation of the delay line 47 a time interval which is shorter than the cycle of the clock signal.
