Abstract:
A photodetector (1A) is equipped with a detection unit (10) configured so as to perform photodetection by applying a reverse bias voltage to a SPAD (4), a monitor SPAD (12) having the same properties as does the SPAD constituting the detection unit, an electric current supply (14) for operating in Geiger mode by supplying a constant current to the monitor SPAD, and a voltage generation unit (18) for generating a reverse bias voltage to be applied to the detection unit SPAD, on the basis of a prescribed excess voltage and a reference breakdown voltage set on the basis of the breakdown voltage produced between the two ends of the monitor SPAD.
