Abstract:
The present invention provides Ge photodiodes having consistent sensitivity in the C and L bands and a photodetector having suppressed common-mode rejection ratio degradation. One embodiment of this photodetector comprises one or more pairs of photodiodes into which differential signals are input. The embodiment further comprises a monitor that is connected to each of the pairs of photodiodes and measures photocurrents and a voltage source for controlling the voltages applied to each of the pairs of photodiodes. The voltage source controls the voltages applied to the photodiodes so as to make the photocurrents measured by the monitor the same.
