Abstract:
A photoelectric conversion element is provided with a conductive support body, a photosensitive layer comprising an electrolyte, a charge transfer layer comprising an electrolyte, and a counter electrode. The photosensitive layer comprises semiconductor fine particles that are loaded with a metal complex dye represented by formula (1). Also provided is a dye-sensitized solar cell that includes the photoelectric conversion element. Also provided is a dye solution that is made by dissolving the metal complex dye represented by formula (1). Formula (1): M(LD)(LA)(X)m·CI. In the formula, M represents Ru2+, Fe2+, or Os2+. LD is a bidentate or tridentate ligand comprising an aryl group or a heterocyclic group, and this ligand has 1-3 atoms that become an anion and coordinate with M. LA represents a tridentate ligand that is represented by a specific formula, X represents a monodentate ligand, CI represents a counterion when a counterion is necessary to neutralize the charge, and m represents 0 or 1.
