Abstract:
Disclosed is a photoelectric conversion element comprising a pair of electrodes at least one of which is transparent or semi-transparent, and a photoactive layer provided between the electrodes. The photoactive layer comprises an electron donating compound and an electron acceptive compound. The electron donative compound or the electron acceptive compound is a polymer compound comprising repeating units represented by formula (I). The photoelectric conversion element has the highest proportion of the repeating unit represented by formula (I) among all of the repeating units contained in the polymer compound, wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6, which may be the same or different, represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent; R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 may be mutually linked to form a cyclic structure; X1, X2, and X3, which may be the same or different, represent a sulfur atom, an oxygen atom, a selenium atom, -N(R7)-, or -CR8 = CR9-; R7, R8, and R9,which may be the same or different, represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent; n and m, which may be the same or different, are an integer of 0 to 5; and, when a plurality of R1, R2, R5, R6, X1, and X3 are present, the substituents may be the same or different.
