Abstract:
Provided is a photomultiplier having a structure for improving response time characteristics.
An electron multiplier section of the photomultiplier is provided with an upper
unit (200) and a lower unit. The upper unit includes a focusing electrode (230),
a mesh electrode (220) and a first dynode (DY1) where photoelectrons from a photocathode
reach among dynodes at a plurality of levels. The upper unit further includes
a partitioning plate (210) for partitioning an effective area for a plurality
of electron multiplier channels allotted along the longitudinal direction
of the first dynode (DY1) so as to prevent cross talk between the adjacent electron
multiplier channels.
