Abstract:
This photon-counting X-ray CT system comprises: an X-ray tube for generating X-ray photons, the maximum energy of which is a higher energy than the maximum peak energy of characteristic X-rays; an X-ray detection substance for detecting X-ray photons; an attenuation coefficient map-generating means for generating a first attenuation coefficient map corresponding to a first energy region that includes the maximum peak energy of the characteristic X-rays; an attenuation coefficient map-converting means for converting the first attenuation coefficient map to a second attenuation coefficient map of a second energy region different from the first energy region; a simulation execution means for running a scatter simulation on the basis of the second attenuation coefficient map and generating a scattered photon distribution of scattered X-ray photons; and an image reconstruction means for generating prereconstruction data on the basis of the detected X-ray photons corresponding to the second energy region, correcting the prereconstruction data by the scattered photon distribution to generate corrected data, and reconstructing a scatter-corrected image corresponding to the second energy region on the basis of the corrected data.
