Title:
PHOTOSENSITIZER DYE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/091525
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A novel transition metal complex which is useful as an excellent photosensitizer dye for photo-electric converting elements having excellent durability and high photo-electric conversion characteristics. It is a divalent transition metal complex which comprises (i) a bipyridyl polyacidic ligand, e.g., a dicarboxybipyridyl (dcbpy) ligand, as an adsorption site for adsorption onto the surface of titanium dioxide particles, (ii) a ligand selected among isothiocyanato, isocyanato, and selenocyanato groups and enabling absorption excitation/charge transfer at long wavelengths, and (iii) a bipyridyl (bpy) ligand which has alkyl or alkoxy, preferably long-chain alkyl, optionally substituted by one or more fluoro groups and has a thienylvinylene, aminophenylenevinylene, or another group conjugately bonded thereto and which is for improving the absorbance of the transition metal complex and imparting stability to a nucleophilic reagent to a sensitizer dye which improves a bathochromatic effect in absorption. Also provided is a photosensitizer dye having such structure.
