Abstract:
A photostimulable fluorescent pigment comprising mother crystals and a rare earth element added thereto as a dopant, wherein the mother crystals are derived from starting materials comprising arbitrary combinations of alkoxides, organic acid salts, inorganic acid salts, oxides, and chlorides of metal elements constituting the pigment, and are present essentially in a single phase. Simplified process steps are usable for its production and the obtained fluorescent pigment has a high crystal purity, is free from contamination with impurities, and has a particle diameter which can be easily controlled.
