The present invention relates to a photovoltaic power generation system having a transmission cable suspended underwater, wherein the transmission cable is prevented from being damaged by the seafloor or rough obstacles existing on the seafloor, and approach of birds is suppressed in an ecofriendly manner by providing a refuge to birds near an offshore photovoltaic power generation unit, thereby protecting the offshore photovoltaic power generation unit safely against damage. The system comprises: an offshore photovoltaic power generation unit having a solar cell plate so as to produce electricity by photovoltaic power generation while floating on water; a transmission cable connected from the solar cell plate to an onshore power grid to transmit electricity generated by the solar cell plate to an onshore location; an intermediate support unit floating on water at a point between the offshore photovoltaic power generation unit and the onshore location; and a suspended cable connected from the solar cell plate to the onshore location and cradled via the intermediate support unit floating on water such that other parts are hung and suspended underwater, thereby supporting the transmission cable so as to be suspended underwater without sinking.
