PIEZOELECTRIC CERAMIC COMPOSITION AND PIEZOELECTRIC DEVICE MADE USING THE SAME

In a piezoelectric ceramic composition containing at least elements Pb, Zr, Ti, La, Cr, Sb, and O, the molar ratio (x) of La to Pb and that (y) of Zr to Pb are adjusted so that the (x) and (y) can stay contained within a square area formed by connecting four apexes A (x=0.005, y=0.54), B (x=0.005, y=0.46), C (x=0.03, y=0.50), and D (x=0.03, y=0.58) with straight lines including the lines and, at the same time, the molar ratio (z) of Cr to Pb and that (w) of Sb to Pb are adjusted so that (z) and (w) are respectively 0.008$m(F)z$m(F)0.022 and 0.008$m(F)w$m(F)0.067. Thus, a piezoelectric ceramic composition which has an excellent piezoelectric characteristic having a small rate of temperature change and an excellent heat resistance can be obtained. This composition can be used for piezoelectric elements, such as piezoelectric sensor, piezoelectric actuator, ceramic filter, ultrasonic vibrator, ultrasonic motor, piezoelectric buzzer, etc.
