Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a piezoelectric element that is capable of obtaining a large piezoelectric effect while also having a relatively simple structure that is easy to manufacture. This piezoelectric element is provided with a plurality of band-like flexible sheets (100) that have elastomer dielectric layers (120) and an electrode layer (110) that has elasticity and is laminated to the dielectric layer, and the piezoelectric element has a structure in which the plurality of flexible sheets (100) cross and overlap each other and are alternatingly folded in an accordion shape. It is preferable that at least one of the plurality of flexible sheets (100) is provided with a pair of the dielectric layers (120) laminated on the front and back sides of the electrode layer (110). It is preferable for a pair of the flexible sheets (100) to cross and overlap each other at substantially right angles. It is preferable for the number of laminated layers of the flexible sheet (100) to be between 10 and 10000 layers.
