Abstract:
In a drive circuit for a piezoelectric transformer using a cold-cathode tube (12) as a load, primary sides of two piezoelectric transformers (11) are connected in series to constitute a pair of piezoelectric transformers. One end of the cold-cathode tube (12) is connected to the secondary side of the piezoelectric transformer (11). An electrode (14) to which the end of the cold-cathode tube (12) opposes is divided into two groups and mutual connection is made for each of the groups. The output current outputted from the piezoelectric transformer pair cancels each other and there no grounding is required. Thus, it is possible to insulate the primary side from the secondary side of the piezoelectric transformer (11).
