Abstract:
This piezoelectric transformer employs the seventh-order vertical oscillation mode, and comprises a piezoelectric element having a length of 7λ/2, a width of less than λ/2, and a thickness of less than λ/2, if the wavelength at the resonance frequency is expressed as λ. The piezoelectric element includes three low-voltage parts and two high-voltage parts. The low-voltage parts and the high-voltage parts are arranged alternately along the length direction such that the low-voltage parts are located at both ends of the piezoelectric element. The low-voltage parts include three polarized regions along the length direction of the piezoelectric element, each polarized region having a length of λ/2. The high-voltage parts include a plurality of polarized regions along the length direction of the piezoelectric element, each polarized region having a length of λ/2. A pair of a first low-voltage electrode and a second low-voltage electrode is formed on respective ends, in the thickness direction, of each of the first, second, and third low-voltage parts. A high-voltage electrode is formed between two adjacent polarized regions among the polarized regions constituting the high-voltage parts.
