Abstract:
A device (10) for preparing the end of a pipe (12) includes a non - rotatable mandrel (14), one end of which is attachable to the pipe (12). A motor (20) rotates a sleeve (90) around the mandrel (14) and the sleeve (90) retains an arm (24) perpendicular to the mandrel (14) for cutting the pipe (12). A cam surface (138) on the rotating sleeve (90) moves a cam follower (140). Movement of the cam follower (140) is converted to rotational movement for turning a feed nut (198) threaded on the mandrel (14). The rate at which the sleeve (90) is advanced by the feed nut (198) is controlled by limiting the movement of the cam follower (140).
