Abstract:
In this pipe joint: a spigot (3) of a first pipe is inserted into a socket (5) of a second pipe; in the socket (5), a lock-ring receiving groove (7) is formed; in the lock-ring receiving groove (7), a lock ring (8) is received; and on the outer periphery of the spigot (3), a spigot protrusion (10) is formed; the spigot protrusion (10) engages with the lock ring (8) from the depth of the socket (5) in the direction (12) in which the spigot (3) separates, thus making it possible to prevent the spigot (3) from separating from the socket (5). The lock ring (8) has a first separation preventing surface (29) oriented toward the opening edge of the socket (5), and a second separation preventing surface (30) oriented toward the depth of the socket (5). In a state in which the spigot protrusion (10) is engaged with the lock ring (8) and the first separation preventing surface (29) of the lock ring (8) is in contact with an opening rim (7a) of the lock-ring receiving groove (7), a normal plane (42) to the tangent plane (41) at the contact point (40) between the opening rim (7a) of the lock-ring receiving groove (7) and the first separation preventing surface (29) of the lock ring (8) passes through the second separation preventing surface (30) of the lock ring (8).
