Abstract:
Provided is a pipe joint which has excellent sealing properties and, in addition, which has a structure providing the pipe joint with sufficient durability under temperature cycles. A pipe joint is provided with a joint body, a cap nut, and a substantially circular cylindrical sleeve which is fitted into the cap nut. An insert groove into which the front end of a pipe body is inserted is provided between a male thread section and the pipe body mounting section of the joint body. An elastic body which is formed in a substantially ring-like shape corresponding to the front end-side end surface of the sleeve is disposed in the insert groove. When the male thread section of the joint body and the female thread section of the cap nut are engaged with each other, the front end-side end surface of the sleeve comes into contact with one axial end surface of the elastic body and compresses the elastic body. Thus, the repulsive force of the elastic body axially presses the front end-side end surface of the sleeve. As a result, a reaction force applied by the fitting surface of the cap nut to the base end-side inner peripheral surface of the sleeve compresses the pipe body in the radial direction thereof.
