Abstract:
A piston according to the present invention is in the shape of a circular cylinder at the ends of which are formed a concave spherical portion in the shape of a partial sphere, and a cylindrical hollow portion, and in which an oil passage allowing the concave spherical portion and the hollow portion to communicate with one another is formed between the concave spherical portion and the hollow portion. The concave spherical portion has a forged concave spherical surface in the shape of a partial sphere, a convex spherical portion of a shoe is supported by the convex spherical surface in such a way as to be capable of sliding in rotation, and the surface area of the portion of the concave spherical surface that impinges upon a pre-determined master sphere to which the convex spherical portion conforms is at least equal to 40% of the total surface area of the concave spherical surface.
