Abstract:
A low-cost piton ring producing method including measures against wear of the fitting portion of a piston ring having a film formed thereon and against breakage thereof, wherein the thickness of the film (2) adjacent the abutment (7) of the piston ring (1) is greater than the thickness of the film (2) on the other outer peripheral surface, and the raw material (5) of the piston ring is rotated around its own axis with respect to an evaporation source (4) until the abutment (7) is opposed to the evaporation source (4), whereupon its speed is reduced.
