Abstract:
A pivot bearing device (13) is provided with: a shaft (21); and rolling ball bearings (20) which are arranged in the direction of the axis of the shaft (21) and which have inner rings (27) affixed to the shaft (21). The outer rings (25) are affixed to the affixation hole (18) of an arm (16) with a tolerance ring (12) provided therebetween, and the pivot bearing device (13) pivots about the shaft. The number of the balls of the ball bearings (20) and the number of the ridges of the tolerance ring (12) which press the outer ring (25) are relatively prime. Accordingly, the pivot bearing device has a simple configuration and good accuracy, is highly reliable, and can be obtained at low cost. The pivot bearing device provides a highly reliable high-density magnetic recording device.
