Abstract:
A pivot bearing unit (10) for an HDD actuator, wherein an axial-direction inside surface (22a) of a shield cap (22) is formed in a stepped shape such that: the narrowest axial-direction gap (a1) between the axial-direction inside surface (22a) and a shield member (14e) of one bearing (14) is narrower than the narrowest axial-direction gap (a2) between the axial-direction inside surface (22a) and an outer race (14b); and the narrowest gap (a3) between the axial-direction inside surface (22a) and the boundary location (14b3) of the axial-direction end surface of the outer race (14b) and a circular groove (14b1) is narrower than the narrowest axial-direction gap (a2) between the axial-direction inside surface (22a) and the outer race (14b). As a result, it is possible to reduce the amount of air flowing through the interior of the bearing, and reduce out-particles.
