Abstract:
The present invention relates to a PLA modifying method using a saccharide or a carboxylic group substituent of a saccharide, and a PLA modified thereby. More particularly, the present invention relates to a PLA modifying method using a saccharide or a carboxylic group substituent of a saccharide, and a PLA modified thereby, the method in which a saccharide or a carboxylic group substituent of a saccharide is added and mixed into a high molecular weight polylactic acid (PLA) polymer and then heat-melted to simultaneously or sequentially give rise to hydrolysis and branching generation reaction, thereby increasing melt strength (MS) and modifying into a low molecular weight PLA of a branched polymer which is much finer than an existing linear PLA, to realize ultra-fine and ultra-thin properties. According to the present invention, by overcoming the limitation of an existing invention, an original process is used as is without a separate auxiliary apparatus required for enhancing the performance of a material, to enhance performance while maintaining the original cost, and manufacture a product having excellent market competitiveness with greater application range of films or fibers by manufacturing ultra-fine products.
