Abstract:
Planar lighting devices (1, 100, 101, 102) according to embodiments are each provided with: a light guide plate (13) having a light incident surface (13a) on which light emitted from a light source (15) is incident and a light emitting surface which emits the light incident on the light incident surface (13a); and a reflective member (14) which faces a termination end surface (13b) on the opposite side of the light incident surface (13a) of the light guide plate (13) and reflects the light leaking from the termination end surface (13b), wherein, on an opposite surface (13d) on the opposite side of the light emitting surface (13c) of the light guide plate (13), a plurality of first prisms (13e, 13p, 202-209) are formed such that, from the light incident surface (13a) to the termination end surface (13b), the plurality of first prisms (13e, 13p, 202-209) gradually increase in distance from the light-emitting surface (13c). The light reflected by the light reflective member (14) and directed toward the light incident surface (13a) from the termination end surface (13b) is emitted in a first direction (70) from the light emitting surface (13c) as first light by the plurality of first prisms (13e, 13p, 202-209). The light incident on the light incident surface (13a) and directed from the light incident surface (13a) toward the termination end surface (13b) is emitted from the light emitting surface (13c) in a second direction (71) different from the first direction (70) as second light by the plurality of first prisms (13e, 13p, 202-209).
