Abstract:
Disclosed is a planarizing film-forming composition for hard disks that is a non-magnetic material filler (a planarizing film-forming composition) used in methods for forming tracks alternately provided with magnetic material and non-magnetic material components, and is sufficiently filled into fine grooves on surface of a magnetic material, wherein it is required that shrinking does not occur in the filled sections during light curing (during exposure) and during post-exposure firing. Also disclosed is a hard disk production method using the same. The planarizing film-forming composition for hard disks includes at least one polyfunctional (meth)acrylate compound with a molecular weight in the range of 300 to 10,000 that is in a liquid state at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Said compound is preferably a compound having in the range of 2 to 20 (meth)acrylate groups in the molecule. In addition, the molecular weight of said compound is preferably in the range of 300 to 2,300. The hard disk production method involves a first step for forming depressions and projections upon the surface of the magnetic material, a second step for covering the aforementioned planarization film-forming composition over the surface of the magnetic material upon which said depressions and projections have been formed, and a third step for planarizing by etching the top of said covered magnetic material surface until the surface of the magnetic material is exposed.
