Abstract:
A device, system and method for promoting the growth, a desired plant (20) while suppressing the growth of weeds. In an embodiment, the device (2) is a tapered container with an opening at the upper, wider end of the device (14) and an opening at a lower, narrower end of the device (10). The device also has one or more openings (8) along it's surface between it's upper end and the lower end (fig. 3). In an embodiment, disclosing the method, a bag (4) of growing medium is placed over the ground and a device (14) is inserted into the bag (4) so that the lower end of the device penetrates both sides of the bag and enters the ground below and the opening at the lower end communicates with the ground. The opening (12) at the upper end of the device should be at or above the upper surface of the bag (4) and at least one or more openings (8) on the surface of the device should be in communication with the growing medium (5) contained within the bag (4).
