Abstract:
The plasma acceleration device comprises: a cathode (11) supplying electrons to a plasma acceleration region; an anode (12); a power source (13) applying a voltage between the cathode and the anode; a supply port (14) disposed more toward the outer periphery than the cathode, and supplying a propellant to the plasma acceleration region; and a first magnetic field generating body (15) generating, in an upstream side region of the plasma acceleration region, a first axis direction magnetic field for suppressing the electrons supplied by the cathode from travelling towards the anode. In this manner, a plasma acceleration device and a plasma acceleration method can be provided having excellent thrust efficiency.
