Provided is a technique for preventing generation of a non-lit cell (erroneous display) caused by a discharge delay at a portion having a large voltage drop of scan pulse at the farther side from a scan drive circuit under the affect of a voltage drop of a scan pulse by discharge current in an address operation in a PDP device. The PDP device has a configuration including an address drive circuit formed by a plurality of blocks corresponding to address electrode groups. Upon address discharge during an address operation, drive for applying an address pulse is performed for a scan electrode scan pulse firstly at a block of the address electrode group existing at the farther side from the scan drive circuit
