Abstract:
At the panel section of a PDP unit, the discharge space is filled with discharge gas comprising Xe as a main component gas and Ne gas added to it within a total pressure range of 1×104[Pa]-5×104[Pa]. The discharge gas is composed of mixture gas of two element system of Xe-Ne, wherein the partial pressure ratio of Ne gas to the total pressure is set at 8[%] or less and the remainder is the main component gas of Xe. The inventive PDP unit can attain a high emission efficiency using discharge gas with high Xe, and can suppress cutting of a protective layer due to sputtering caused by discharge at the time of driving since the partial pressure ratio of Ne gas to the total pressure is set at 8[%] or less.
