Abstract:

Realized is a plasma display panel having high definition and high-luminance display capabilities and low power consumption. To this end, the PDP is provided with a front plate (2), wherein a dielectric layer (8) is formed to cover display electrodes (6) formed on a front glass substrate (3) and wherein a protective layer (9) is also formed on the dielectric layer (8), and a back plate which is placed to face the front plate (2) to form a discharge space filled with a discharge gas between. On the back plate, address electrodes are formed in a direction to cross the display electrodes (6), and partition walls that divide the discharge space are also provided. Furthermore, the protective layer (9) is formed from a metal oxide comprising magnesium oxide and calcium oxide, and also contains zinc. In addition, the angle of diffraction generated by the peak of the metal oxide is between the angle of diffraction generated by the peak of the magnesium oxide and the angle of diffraction generated by the peak of the calcium oxide, with X-ray diffraction analysis at the surface of the protective layer (9).
