Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a plastic optical fiber which has excellent light transmitting properties, heat resistance, environmental resistance and the like, while exhibiting extremely excellent bending resistance. The present invention proposes, as a solution for this problem, a plastic optical fiber which is composed of a core and at least one cladding layer, and which is characterized in that: the innermost cladding layer has a bending modulus of elasticity of 20-70 MPa; or alternatively, the innermost cladding layer has a glass transition temperature of 10°C or less, while having a storage elastic modulus of from 1 × 106 Pa to 4 × 107 Pa at 30°C.
