Abstract:
Provided is a plastic scintillation fiber with which it is possible to suppress mode dispersion and improve the accuracy with which a radiation passing position can be specified. A plastic scintillation fiber according to one mode of embodiment of the present invention is provided with a core (1), and a cladding (2) which covers an outer peripheral surface of the core (1) and which has a lower refractive index that the core (1). The core (1) uniformly contains a radiation-luminescent fluorescence agent (3), and the refractive index of the core (1) is maximal at the cross-sectional center thereof and has a distribution that decreases radially with increasing distance from the center toward the outer periphery.
