Abstract:
Characteristics such as battery capacity are improved by exposing the crystal faces wherein lithium ions enter and exit favorably (faces other than the (003) face: for example, the (101) face or the (104) face) to more electrolyte. Disclosed are plate-shaped particles for the positive electrode active material of lithium secondary batteries and positive electrode active material films that have a layered rock salt structure wherein faces other than the (003) face are oriented to run parallel to the plate surfaces (surfaces which are orthogonal to the thickness direction), and step structures are formed two-dimensionally along said plate surfaces.
