Abstract:
Provided is a plated steel wire that has, on the surface of a steel wire, a coating film layer containing Zn and at least any element selected from the element group consisting of Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, P, Sn, Mn, and Fe. The content in the coating film layer of each element selected from this element group is at least 0.1 mass%, and the open circuit potential of the coating film layer at 35°C is baser than -0.5 V vs. NHE. The coating film layer does not contain an intermetallic compound comprising Zn and the at least any element selected from the aforementioned element group, or, if the coating film layer contains such an intermetallic compound, the length of the intermetallic compound is not more than 1 μｍ.
