When a portion the plating coating weight of which is to be measured has reached an upstream position (α), a plating coating weight estimated value (We) of a surface of a steal plate (S) at a position opposed to a distance sensor (74a-74b, 84a-84d), that is, a position away from an upstream position (Ed11) by a plate width direction distance (X11-X14), is estimated and calculated by a plating coating weight estimation expression. When the portion the plating coating weight of which is to be measured has reached a downstream position (β), a plating coating weight measured value (W) is determined by setting a plate width direction distance (X21-X24) of a plating coating weight meter (53a-53d, 63a-63d) to be equal to the plate width direction distance (X11-X14). The plating coating weight estimation expression is corrected on the basis of a difference between the plating coating weight estimated value (We) and the plating coating weight measured value (W). In this manner, control precision of the plating coating weight is improved.
