Abstract:

A playback device provided with: an optical system for dividing a cross-section of superimposed light into a plurality of regions in the tangential direction and/or the radial direction, using the plurality of superimposed light corresponding with the divided regions, and generating each of a set of a first signal light and a reference light provided with a phase difference of roughly 0°, a set of a second signal light and a reference light provided with a phase difference of roughly 180°, a set of a third signal light and a reference light provided with a phase difference of roughly 90°, and a set of a fourth signal light and a reference light provided with a phase difference of roughly 270°; a light-receiving unit for outputting a signal (I) corresponding to the set of the first signal light and reference light, a signal (J) corresponding to the set of the second signal light and reference light, a signal (K) corresponding to the set of the third signal light and reference light, and a signal (L) corresponding to the set of the fourth signal light and reference light; and a circuit for calculating a signal a that is the differential between the signal (I) and the signal (J), and a signal b that is the differential between the signal (K) and the signal (L), and obtaining a playback signal from the calculation based on signals a and b.
