Title:
PLUGGABLE OPTICAL MODULE AND OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/006515
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to implement a compact pluggable optical module used for digital coherent communication. A pluggable electric connector (11) is configured to be insertable into and removable from an optical transmission device and to be able to communicate a modulation signal (MOD) and a data signal (DAT) from and to the optical transmission device. A wavelength-tunable light source (14) outputs output light (L2) and local oscillation light (LO) of a predetermined wavelength. An optical transmission unit (12) outputs a light signal (LS1) obtained by modulating the output light (L2) in response to the modulation signal (MOD). An optical reception unit (13) demodulates a received light signal (LS2) into the data signal (DAT) using the local oscillation light (LO), and outputs the data signal (DAT). Pluggable optical receptors (15A, 15B) are configured such that an optical fiber is insertable thereinto and removable therefrom, and are able to output the light signal (LS1) to the optical fiber and transfer the light signal (LS2) received via the optical fiber to the light reception unit (13).
