Abstract:
A plunging assembly of a drive shaft comprises: an outer housing, which includes a bore having a plurality of outer ball grooves extending in a longitudinal direction; an inner shaft disposed in the bore of the outer housing so as to be relatively movable in the longitudinal direction, and having a plurality of inner ball grooves respectively paired with the plurality of outer ball grooves so as to form a plurality of ball tracks; a plunging unit for connecting the outer housing and the inner shaft so as to enable a plunging motion and rotational power to be transmitted between the outer housing and the inner shaft; and a movement restricting unit operated so as to restrict the longitudinal movement of the plunging unit and the longitudinal relative movement of the outer housing and the inner shaft. The plunging unit comprises: a plurality of balls arranged in the plurality of ball tracks so as to be movable in the longitudinal direction; and a ball cage accommodating the plurality of balls, and interposed between the inner shaft and the outer housing so as to be movable in the longitudinal direction. The movement restricting unit comprises: a first moving-in stopper for restricting relative movement in the direction in which the plunging unit is inserted into the bore; a second moving-in stopper for restricting relative movement of the outer housing and the inner shaft in the direction in which the inner shaft is inserted into the bore; a first moving-out stopper for restricting relative movement in the direction in which the plunging unit is discharged out of the bore; and a second moving-out stopper for restricting relative movement of the outer housing and the inner shaft in the direction in which the inner shaft is discharged out of the bore. The first moving-out stopper is an outer locking member, which has a movement restricting part coupled to the end portion of the outer housing into which the inner shaft is inserted, and blocks the edge of an inlet of the bore.
