Abstract:

Provided is a pneumatic fender, which can be expanded to a greater degree when in use than when not in use such as during storage, transport, or the like, and the entire shape of which can be expanded with an enhanced degree of similarity than conventionally by rectifying deformations near the borders of a trunk portion with hemispherical portions at both ends. Each of a reinforcement layer 3 of a trunk portion 2 and a reinforcement layer 5 in a prescribed area 4A in the longitudinal direction of a fender on the sides of the borders between each hemispherical portion 4 and the trunk portion 2 are formed with a large number of cords 3a, 3b and cords 5a, 5b aligned in parallel. In a neutral state of not being expanded, cords 3a and 3b of layered adjacent reinforcement layers 3 and cords 5a and 5b of layered adjacent reinforcement layers 5 intersect and are set at cord angles A, B of 15° to 45° with respect to the longitudinal direction of the fender. As the fender 1 is filled with air to a stipulated internal pressure, the trunk portion 2 and the prescribed area 4A of each hemispherical portion 4 largely expand and increase in diameter such that the cord angles A, B expand up to approximately a static angle.
