Abstract:

A pneumatic radial tire for a passenger vehicle, said tire being provided with the following: a carcass comprising radial cord plies extending toroidally between a pair of bead parts; and a tread. Said tire is characterized in that: the surface of the tread has one or more grooves that are no more than 3 mm wide; if the section width (SW) of the tire is less than 165 mm, the quotient (SW/OD) of said section width (SW) and the outer diameter (OD) of the tire is 0.26 or less; and if the section width (SW) of the tire is greater than or equal to 165 mm, the section width (SW) and the outer diameter (OD) satisfy the relation OD ≥ 2.135∙SW + 282.3.
