Abstract:
A pneumatic radial tire combining steering stability, durability, and adequate
cost/performance ratio which are required for a high performance radial tire
intended to be applied to high performance passenger cars. In the pneumatic radial
tire, a carcass (1) extending in a toroidal shape between a pair of bead parts (11)
is used as a skeleton, and at least two layers of cross belt layers (2a, 2b) formed
by rubberizing steel cords are disposed on the radially outside of the crown part
of the carcass. The steel cord is formed in a single strand structure or a core-single
layer sheath structure comprising six to ten pieces of steel wires with a wire
diameter of 0.10 to 0.20 mm. The driven number of steel cords is 40 pieces/50 mm
or more, and a distance between the steel cords adjacent to each other in the belt
layers is 0.3 mm or longer.
