Abstract:
Provided is a pneumatic radial tire that can improve run-flat durability while also suppressing vibration during tire rolling and protrusion of the tire during high-speed travel. The pneumatic radial tire is provided with a side-reinforcement rubber layer (5) that is disposed on the inside of a carcass (4) in a sidewall section (2) and that has a crescent-shaped cross section, and a belt-reinforcement layer (9) comprising a strip that is formed of a rubber-coated polyester cord and that is wound in a spiral along the circumferential direction of the tire. The polyester cord removed from this pneumatic radial tire has a first twist coefficient (α1) of 0.1-0.4 and a second twist coefficient (α2) of 0.1-0.45, as represented by the formulae α1 = N1 × (0.125 × D1 / ρ)0.5 × 10−3 and α2 = N2 × (0.125 × D2 / ρ)0.5 × 10−3, an initial tensile resistance of 7-20 GPa, and an adhesion level after treatment of the polyester cord with an adhesive of 5N per cord, as evaluated by the residual adhesion evaluation method.
