Abstract:
A pneumatic tire having enhanced durability achieved by configuring the tire so that holes provided in land sections in shoulder areas of a tread surface in order to reduce road noise do not bite stones. A pneumatic tire, wherein a large number of small holes (4) are arranged in the tire’s circumferential direction in multiple kinds of land sections (3) provided in both shoulder sections of a tread (1) and having different pitch lengths. Each of the holes (4) has formed thereinside a projection (5) having a flat or projecting upper end surface. The distance between the outer wall of the projection (5) at the upper end thereof and the inner wall of the small hole (4) is set in the range from 1 to 5 mm. The upper end of the projection (5) is located at a position below the opening of the hole (4).
