Abstract:
Provided is a pneumatic tire having improved plunger energy and anti-BES resistance while maintaining the lightweight properties of a tire, as a tire that is particularly suitable as a tire for large passenger vehicles and as an extra load tire. The pneumatic tire has a carcass (1) as a structure, and is provided, on the outside in the radial direction of the crown part of the tire, with two or more belt layers (2a, 2b) obtained by covering with rubber a plurality of steel cords arranged at an incline with respect the circumferential direction of the tire. The steel cords comprise two or more core wires and 5 to 7 sheath wires that are twisted therearound. The gap between adjoining steel cords within a belt layer exceeds 1.0mm but does not exceed 1.50mm, and the gauge of the belt layer falls within the range of 1.20mm to 1.60mm.
