Abstract:
A pneumatic tire is provided with: dimple-shaped recesses which have a size varying in a cyclic manner in the circumferential direction of the tire; and linear troughs which are provided around the recesses so as to cover the recesses and which extend in one direction, the dimple-shaped recesses and the linear troughs being provided in a region of at least one of the side wall surfaces of a pair of side sections of the tire, the region including the maximum width position of the tire. The recesses are, for example, three or more types of circular recesses having different sizes. The size of the circular recesses varies stepwise in the circumferential direction of the tire. The bottom surfaces of the circular recesses have a spherical shape. The maximum depth of the circular recesses is constant independent of the size and is in the range of 0.3 to 1.5 mm.
