Provided is a pneumatic tire with which, when a belt-like sound-absorbing material is affixed to a tire inner-surface region corresponding to a tread section, weight unbalance at both sides of a tire equatorial plane can be rectified, and peeling of the sound-absorbing material can be inhibited. This pneumatic tire is provided with a tread section, sidewall sections, and bead sections. A pattern comprising grooves is formed in the tread section. An adhesive layer is used to affix a belt-like sound-absorbing material, along the tire peripheral direction, to a tire inner-surface region corresponding to the tread section. When a first ground-contact region is established between the tire equatorial plane and a tire ground-contact end at one side in the tire width direction, and a second ground-contact region is established between the tire equatorial plane and a tire ground-contact end at the other side in the tire width direction, the groove area ratio in the first ground-contact region is set so as to be higher than that in the second ground-contact region. Furthermore, the sound-absorbing material is disposed in a biased position in the tire width direction such that the centre of gravity of the area of the sound-absorbing material in a cross section along a plane including the tire axis is positioned in the first ground-contact region.
