Provided is a pneumatic tire which makes it possible to maintain favorable steering stability while keeping the tire lightweight, and configure in a manner such that the carcass layer performs part of the belt layer function and the belt layer is a single-ply layer, by using a curved carcass structure in which the carcass cord angle continuously changes throughout the tread region and side region in a pneumatic tire equipped with a belt layer. The pneumatic tire is equipped with a single belt layer (7), and given that the region corresponding to the belt width BW of the belt layer (7) is the tread region Rt and the region to the inside in the radial direction of the tire from the maximum tire width position is the side region Rs, a carcass cord (41) constituting the carcass layer (4) is angled relative to the tire radial direction in the tread region Rt and extends in the tire radial direction in the side region Rs, and furthermore, the carcass cord (41) constituting the carcass layer (4) intersects a belt cord (71) constituting the belt layer (7) in the tread region Rt.
