Abstract:
A pneumatic tire is provided that comprises side reinforcement layers in the sidewall sections, wherein the structure of a bead section is improved, and rim detachment resistance is improved while reducing the tire weight. A polygonal shape formed by the common tangent lines of a plurality of circumferential portions of a bead wire 5A on the meridian cross section is used as the outer contour shape of the bead core 5; the outer contour shape is configured to have a single acute-angle vertex Q on the outer side in the tire radial direction, and a bottom side facing the vertex Q; a carcass layer 4 is folded back while curving along the peripheral edge of the bead core 5 in each bead section 3; a folded-back section 4B of the carcass layer 4 from the position of the bead core 5 at the outer-side end in the tire radial direction is extended toward the sidewall sections 2 while contacting a main body section 4A; the distance in the tire radial direction between the center O of an arc R that constitutes the profile of the tire outer surface, and a straight line L1 extending in the tire width direction through the vertex Q, is 20% or less of the radius r of the arc R; and the distance in the tire width direction between the center O of the arc R and a straight line L2 extending in the tire radial direction through the vertex Q is set within the range of 2r ± 0.4 r in relation to the radius r of the arc R.
