Abstract:
Provided is a pneumatic tire which is provided with a carcass layer comprising organic fiber cords, and which enables an improvement in handling stability and high speed durability while maintaining shock burst resistance. At least one carcass layer 4 laid between a pair of bead portions 3 is configured from carcass cords 4c comprising organic fiber cords obtained by twisting together organic fiber filament bundles, wherein the fineness based on the corrected mass of the carcass cords 4c is 4000 dtex to 8000 dtex, the intermediate elongation of the carcass cords 4c in a side wall portion 2 under a load of 1.0 cN/dtex is 3.3% to 4.2%, the elongation at fracture of the carcass cords is at least equal to 20%, and a ratio G/R between a gap G between the carcass cords 4c adjacent to one another within the layer of each carcass layer 4 and a cord diameter R of the carcass cords 4c at a tire maximum width position A is 0.35 to 0.60.
