Abstract:
Provided is a pneumatic tire which can have improved durability during high-speed running or under wet heat conditions while attaining a reduction in road noise. This pneumatic tire includes a tread 1 including a belt layer 7 and a belt cover layer 8 disposed on the outer peripheral side of the belt layer 7 and constituted of organic fiber cords spirally wound along the circumferential direction of the tire.
Poly(ethylene terephthalate) fiber cords having a 100°C modulus under 2.0cN/dtex load in the range of 3.5-5.5 cN/(tex·%) are used as the organic fiber cords. The organic fiber cords are covered with a coating rubber formed from a rubber composition which includes one or more rubber ingredients selected from among natural rubber, styrene/butadiene rubbers, and butadiene rubber, the proportion of the natural rubber in the rubber ingredients being 50 mass% or higher, and which further includes zinc white incorporated into the rubber ingredients in an amount of 5.0-9.0 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the rubber ingredients.
