Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a polarizer that achieves both orientation and lightfastness, a production method for the polarizer, a laminate, and an image display device. The polarizer is formed from a polarizer formation composition that contains a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic substance. The liquid crystal compound has smectic liquid crystal properties. The temperature at which a smectic phase of the polarizer formation composition transitions to an isotropic phase or a nematic phase is at least 120°C.
